Personally, I feel the most underrated blessing is good health!

If you've been seriously sick before or have watched a close one drained from sickness, you'd probably understand why I made the above statement.

All of a sudden, you'll detest your favorite food, you'll find your hobby irritating and you'll be extremely weak to even do what needs to be done - visit the doctor.

How do you expect to get good healthcare if you're too weak to even order a ride and visit your doctor? 🤔

How can you go for checkups when you have to split your time between work and hospital visits? 🤷‍♂️

You won't believe it but a similar experience birthed the idea of HealthGo - a blockchain project built to improve the terrible state of healthcare in Africa.

Permit me to take you on a ride into my interview chat with Divinegift Afolabi, founder of HealthGo.

Julia: What is HealthGo?

Divinegift: HealthGo Inc is an African portal for fast, accessible and guaranteed healthcare assistance leveraging blockchain technology.

Julia: When you say "healthcare assistance," what do you mean? What kind of health assistance services does Healthgo Inc offer?

Divinegift: When I say Healthcare assistance, there is need for preventative care for Africans. The kind of Healthcare assistance we offer includes the following:

~ Healthcare consultation including text, video and voice call consultation.

~ Access to buy drug online and get it delivered to their comfort zones.

~ Access to also order for diagnosis services and get health checkup done in their homes and comfort zone.

~ Also to advance our mission of offering quality healthcare assistance we offer healthcare literacy and healthcare financial assistance to pharmacies and healthcare providers to access growth tools to grow and offer more services to more Nigerians.

Julia: Great! I do agree with the fact that Nigerians need better healthcare assistance. Great job sir 👏

Julia: Are there health professionals within the team?

Divinegift: Yes, definitely!

Julia: How do you make use of blockchain tech in providing quality healthcare assistance?

Divinegift: Firstly, looking at the most common and visible one, we leverage blockchain in establishing our mode of payment, also we utilize that in establishing a secured data keeping platform.

Julia: Is there any blockchain network you use for these? I mean for secured data keeping.

Divinegift: We utilize 3 different blockchains currently to create a secured environment for HealthGo.

1. Near Blockchain

2. Renec Blockchain

3. ToroNet Blockchain

Julia: I recently carried out a research on ToroNet and it's great to see two African (Nigerian) based blockchain projects solving real life issues working together. Really commendable sir!

Julia: What is the long term vision of HealthGo Inc?

Divinegift: Well to answer this, we recently launched a 10 years mission campaign focused at providing healthcare assistance to 10 millions Nigerians in the next 10 years, providing healthcare services to both the individuals and public offices.

Julia: Wow! Lovely.

10 years seem like a long time...looking at it from here.

What challenges are you currently facing and what limitations do you think will try to hinder Healthgo vision from coming to fruition?

Divinegift: Yea, 10 years is a long time to prove our vision is valid. As usual the ecosystem is harsh but we would surely face our limitations and win.

The limitation we are facing now is no longer validation, but funding.

Julia: That's a common problem for startups, especially blockchain projects.

But I believe in time, the funds will come. Maybe from investors, maybe not. Maybe from product sale or not. But either ways, it's good that despite the current lack of funding, you're still pushing through with the HealthGo vision 💪💪

Julia: So on to the next question.

I'm curious. Is there any personal story that led to the birth of HealthGo?

Divinegift: Yes. Yea, there is.

Julia: Do you mind sharing with me?

Divinegift: So the story behind HealthGo started with me being able to provide solution to my healthcare needs.

Being able to attend to my healthcare need while actively working and busy with my corporate lifestyle

This started in 2021, when I was been treated of Tuberculosis. In between this, I got a job and really wanted to attend to the need of the sickness while working at my new job on the island.

The stress of visiting my doctor on the mainland and not being able to attend to my healthcare need effectively made me think of an idea to build a solution for myself.

Julia: Wow! That's really a great motivation

I can see how HealthGo became an idea, then an actualization.

Julia: How are you doing now BTW? The tuberculosis?

Divinegift: Totally free from it now. Since early 2022.

Julia: I remember you mentioned that the goal of HealthGo is to provide quality healthcare assistance to NIGERIANS.

But I'm wondering, do you, at any point, think that you'd want to be global? Offer to others outside Nigeria as well?

Divinegift: Yes, we are Afro-centric.

We would definitely expand to other African countries in time.

Julia: Lovely! Lovely!!!

Julia: So for the last question.

Is there any other thing you'd like to add? Anything you'd like me to quote you on in the article when I publish?
