**What is BRC-420?**

Launched in September, BRC-420 is an open-source asset management protocol that builds on BRC-20 by incorporating metadata capabilities. Inspired by Ethereum's ERC-721 NFT standard, BRC-420 enables users to create, manage, and share complex asset formats through recursion, such as game items, 2D and 3D animations, effects, and metaverse gameplay modules.

BRC-420 has quickly revitalized the Bitcoin NFT space by enabling creators and expanding the use cases for BTC-based tokens, particularly in the metaverse. It leverages Bitcoin's security and liquidity while offering a user experience similar to Ethereum NFTs, generating significant hype.

**Projects Utilizing BRC-420**

Several projects are already employing BRC-420. For instance, Singapore-based Mineral offers a BRC-420 BTC inscription crypto-asset backed by BTC mining power, enabling users to earn periodic BTC interest through staking. Recursive Doodinals, created by the BRC-420 team, allows users to create recursive art using doodles or inscriptions. Additionally, BRC-420 BlueBox, issued by Bitmap, has a total supply of 10,000.

**Embracing the BRC-420 Hype**

Merlin Chain, a Bitcoin Layer-2 solution with a multi-token Proof-of-Stake consensus, exemplifies a platform utilizing BRC-420. Merlin Chain allows users to pledge BTC, MERL, or other mainstream BRC-20 and BRC-420 assets to compete for node qualifications.

Since the protocol's introduction in February, on-chain data shows that over $176 million worth of BRC-420 assets have been pledged on Merlin Chain. This platform, developed by the BRC-420 team, saw a 2,000% growth between March and April and has become a top 10 chain and the largest sidechain in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
