Farmsent, a blockchain platform with a focus on farmers, has joined forces with Peaq, a layer-1 decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN)-focused blockchain, in an effort to revolutionize the global food commodity trade. With over 160,000 farmers already part of Farmsent's network in Indonesia and Colombia, the collaboration aims to transform the way food is traded globally.

The partnership, announced on April 9, signifies a significant step forward in Farmsent's mission to decentralize the agricultural supply chain, promoting transparency in the global food trade, and establishing a Web3 marketplace connecting farmers directly with consumer-facing businesses worldwide.

By utilizing DePIN sensors to track product quality and origin, Farmsent seeks to eliminate centralized intermediaries and reduce costs for all involved parties, while ensuring transparency throughout the supply chain.

The utilization of DePIN technology by Farmsent is particularly noteworthy in the agricultural sector, as it provides farmers with secure digital identities for improved market access and real-time data on their crops, including essential information such as soil moisture, pH levels, and humidity. This empowers farmers to make informed decisions to optimize crop health and yields, while also providing consumers with access to information about the food they purchase, including details about farming practices, origin, and cultivation methods.
