A hacker responsible for stealing $7.4 million from Hundred Finance over a year ago has recently initiated movements of these stolen assets. Currently, the hacker's wallet holds an estimated $4.3 million in various cryptocurrencies, including Dai, Wrapped Ether, Frax, and Wrapped Bitcoin.

The exploit that enabled this theft occurred on April 15, 2023, when Hundred Finance reported a security breach on the Optimism layer-2 network. The breach involved the manipulation of the exchange rates between ERC-20 tokens and hTOKENS, a method commonly associated with flash loan attacks. This type of attack exploits DeFi protocols by taking out large, uncollateralized loans to manipulate cryptocurrency prices temporarily.

Flash loan attacks have been a notable threat within the DeFi sector, leading to significant losses. However, recent reports from blockchain security firms like CertiK indicate a decrease in losses from such attacks, with April 2024 recording only $129,000 lost—a significant reduction from previous months and years.
