AO, a hyper-parallel computer, has attracted $260 million in stETH deposited to its platform, elevating it to the 28th largest decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem within the past four days, as noted by Arweave and AO founder Sam Williams in a June 22 post.

Williams stated that AO’s Total Value Locked (TVL) now matches that of Cardano ($209.43 million), surpassing well-known blockchain projects such as zkSync, Fantom, Scroll, Algorand, Filecoin, and ICP.

AO utilizes a decentralized computational model for parallel processing of applications, including artificial intelligence (AI) apps. Built on Arweave, which offers permanent data storage solutions, AO leverages hyper-parallel computing to concurrently process vast numbers of computations, significantly boosting efficiency and speed. This capability makes AO ideal for tasks requiring extensive computational resources, such as large-scale simulations, complex data analysis, and AI model training.

Hyper-parallel computing involves distributing tasks across numerous processors simultaneously, a strategy that traditional systems find challenging to handle efficiently.

Arweave employs a blockchain-like structure called "blockweave" for permanent data storage, ensuring data immutability once written, which enhances data integrity and security.

AO’s fair launch was pivotal in introducing its token to the market. In blockchain terms, a fair launch implies tokens were distributed without preferential treatment or pre-sale to insiders, promoting decentralized and equitable token distribution. AO issued 21 million tokens with a halving schedule every four years, akin to Bitcoin’s halving process, which controls new token circulation and potentially enhances token value over time.
