Notorious crypto wallet-draining kit provider Inferno Drainer has restarted its operations after suddenly shutting down last November, as per a May 20 screenshot shared by crypto security expert Plumferno.

The information was also verified by web3 anti-scam firm Scam Sniffer, which noted an uptick in phishing sites utilizing Inferno Drainer’s services. Last year, the "scam-as-a-service" provider ceased operations after allegedly siphoning over $80 million from around 5,000 victims through 689 phishing websites.

Inferno Drainer claimed to have drained over $125 million in crypto assets during six months of private operations, bringing the total stolen with its kit to over $250 million. The group announced enhanced services, supporting 28 blockchain networks and various protocols like lending, staking, and yield farming.

It attributed the decision to resume public operations to increased demand and the departure of competitors like Pink Drainer, which shut down recently after pilfering over $85 million from more than 21,000 victims. The resurgence of Inferno Drainer highlights the ongoing threat of phishing scams in the crypto sphere, with losses exceeding $100 million this year.

Scam Sniffer warns that phishing scammers often use fake accounts on social media platforms, like X (formerly Twitter), to impersonate legitimate projects and lure unsuspecting users to malicious websites where their digital assets are stolen.
