Intel and the African Development Bank (AfDB) are teaming up to empower millions of Africans with essential skills in cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and data science. This collaborative effort aims to train three million African citizens and 30,000 government officials, with the goal of revolutionizing the digital landscape across the continent.

Through this partnership, the initiative seeks to address the pressing need for advanced technology skills in Africa, which are vital for driving economic growth and productivity. By equipping individuals with AI expertise, the program aims to enable Africa to actively participate in the development and innovation of AI technology, thereby contributing to its ongoing progress.

Intel's Director of Government Affairs for Africa and International Government Affairs Chief Technology Officer Liaison, Bienvenu Agbokponto Soglo, expressed Intel's commitment to democratizing access to advanced technologies like AI. Soglo emphasized Intel's desire to collaborate with African governments to ensure that these technologies are accessible to everyone, irrespective of their location, gender, or ethnicity, thereby enabling broader participation in the digital economy.

In addition to individual training, the partnership between Intel and AfDB will also support the development of consistent policies and regulations for digital technologies like AI, 5G, and cloud computing.
