According to a recent report on X by the on-chain analytics firm Santiment, the ranking of cryptocurrency projects based on "Development Activity" reveals significant shifts.

Development Activity measures the overall work contributed by developers to a cryptocurrency project's public GitHub repositories. Traditionally, this is quantified by the number of "commits," or changes, made to the repository. However, this method can be misleading for forked projects, where commits from the original developers are carried over to the new project.

To address this, Santiment's indicator tracks "events," which include any actions on the repository such as code pushes, issue interactions, or comment creations. This approach provides a more accurate assessment of Development Activity, especially for forked projects.

In the past month, Internet Computer has surged to the top of the list, recording nearly 467 events, signaling a significant increase in developer activity. Previously, it ranked lower, but the recent spike has propelled it above competitors like Cardano and Polkadot.

Ethereum has also seen improvement, moving from tenth to ninth place in the rankings.

High Development Activity reflects the dedication of developers to a project, suggesting its long-term viability and legitimacy.
