Investcorp, a leading alternative asset manager, has joined forces with Securitize to embark on a pioneering partnership aimed at advancing the tokenization of funds based on real-world assets. This collaboration marks a significant step towards leveraging blockchain technology to democratize access to investment opportunities traditionally limited to institutional players.

The initiative will initially focus on tokenizing funds within Investcorp's Strategic Capital Group (ISCG), which manages approximately $1.5 billion in assets and specializes in acquiring minority stakes in alternative asset managers (GPs). Since its inception in 2019, ISCG has established a strong presence across various investment strategies including buyouts, secondaries, structured equity, private credit, and real assets.

Anthony Maniscalco, Managing Partner of ISCG, expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting the potential of tokenization to enhance investor efficiency and broaden accessibility. He emphasized that through Securitize's technology, the partnership aims to democratize access to GP staking strategies, thereby opening up private market opportunities to a wider range of investors.

Securitize, known for its expertise in blockchain-based securities and compliance solutions, sees the partnership as a strategic move to dismantle barriers and enable individual investors to participate in asset classes previously reserved for institutional capital. Investcorp's venture into blockchain technology dates back to 2022, when it appointed Herve Francois, former head of digital assets at ING, to spearhead its blockchain fund initiatives. Since then, Investcorp has been actively involved in funding and supporting various crypto projects, underscoring its commitment to exploring new frontiers in digital finance.
