Games Fund One has shifted its focus over time towards various gaming-related ventures such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR). The fund has also made investments in Web3.0 startups.

In a LinkedIn post from 2023, Chen stated that the fund's attention was primarily on studios, web3, and infrastructure in its initial year, with plans to concentrate on AI in the following year.

Apart from Games Fund One, a16z has invested in blockchain-based gaming projects through its crypto division. Some recipients of these investments include top blockchain gaming companies, Mythical Games and Voldex.

Immutable and Polygon Labs have recently announced a partnership to establish a $100 million fund specifically for Web3 gaming. This fund aims to boost the growth of early-stage gaming startups in the blockchain industry.
