In recent developments, the market for spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) is showing signs of waning investor interest, with outflows totaling a substantial $218 million over the past day, as per data from Farside Investors.

Of notable mention is BlackRock's IBIT Bitcoin ETF, which has experienced its second consecutive day of zero flows. Similarly, Fidelity's FBTC has encountered its first daily net outflow, amounting to $23 million.

The trend of outflows extends to several other US Bitcoin funds. Grayscale's GBTC fund remains on a path of outflows, shedding $139.37 million, while Ark Invest and 21Shares' ARKB fund saw $31.34 million exiting. Valkyrie's fund registered $20.16 million in outflows, and Bitwise faced a negative flow of $6 million.

Conversely, Franklin Templeton's EZBC stands out as the sole fund with daily net inflows, attracting $1.87 million.

Despite the pronounced outflows, the aggregate net inflows into these ETFs have still surpassed an impressive $12 billion since their inception in January.

What's Driving the Outflows?

According to James Butterfill, CoinShares' Head of Research, these outflows signify a dwindling interest among ETP/ETF investors, fueled by speculations surrounding potential delays in rate cuts by the Federal Reserve.

Some industry observers interpret this slowdown as a necessary adjustment for the market to pause and recalibrate. Bloomberg Senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted that Fidelity's FBTC and BlackRock's IBIT had set records for the highest net assets within the first 72 days of launch.

Balchunas remarked:

"The league of own-ness of IBIT, FBTC et al shows how overheated it all was, a breather was overdue to be honest."

The significance of Fidelity FBTC and BlackRock IBIT is underscored by their status as market leaders, collectively managing over $27 billion in assets.

Nevertheless, anticipation looms over Morgan Stanley's reported plans to permit its 15,000 brokers to recommend spot Bitcoin ETFs to clients, potentially reigniting interest in the market and shaping future trends.
