Ripple, a leading cryptocurrency payments company and a major holder of XRP, has executed another substantial transaction that has grabbed the attention of the crypto market. The payment protocol and exchange network have transferred 150 million XRP, equivalent to roughly 0.25% of the cryptocurrency’s current market value.

This significant transfer was disclosed in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter) by Whale Alert, a blockchain tracker and analytics system, on May 13. Ripple sold 150 million XRP tokens valued at over $75.7 million, with the recipient being an anonymous crypto wallet address, "rP4X2hTa7A," associated with Ripple.

The transaction took place in two separate transfers, spaced an hour apart. Initially, 100 million XRP, worth approximately $55.8 million, was moved into the "rP4X2hTa7A" wallet from another anonymous address, "rhWt2bhRq." Subsequently, the remaining 50 million XRP, valued at about $27.8 million, was transferred to the same wallet.

Ripple has a history of transactions with the wallet address "rP4X2hTa7A." Earlier, on April 24, the company transferred 100 million XRP to this address, followed by distribution to several external addresses.

It's noteworthy that Ripple initiated this 150 million XRP transaction shortly after releasing 1 billion XRP tokens on May 1 from its regular monthly escrow unlock. After the release, Ripple distributed 200 million XRP to its treasury account and allocated the remaining tokens to new escrows.

According to XRPScan data, Ripple's treasury account, labeled 'Ripple (1),' received the XRP escrow deposit and subsequently transferred the tokens to the mentioned wallet address. This action introduced previously uncirculated tokens into the market, potentially impacting XRP's supply inflation.

After receiving the XRP, the anonymous wallet address retained 50 million XRP and transferred the remaining 100 million XRP to another undisclosed wallet. If this distribution trend continues, a sell-off may occur, potentially affecting XRP's price, which has been hovering around $0.5.

Although Ripple's 150 million XRP transfer is not unprecedented this year, it could still have a significant impact on XRP's price. Historically, XRP's value has seen slight declines following Ripple's token sales. Consequently, XRP's price has experienced a notable decrease in recent days, trading at $0.49, down 1.37% in the last 24 hours and 4.03% over the past week, according to CoinMarketCap.
