In this interview, I spoke with Joshua Umoh a Web 3 brand strategist who helps Web 3 brand builders build a reputable brand with a converting sales funnel. he is also the founder of JOMIL PR AGENCY

Lauretta:

So, I've been following you on LinkedIn, and I must say, you are doing well in the blockchain industry. I also attended one of your webinars on Telegram and learned a whole lot.

but I'm curious—what drove you to become a crypto brand strategist?

Joshua:

Alright, very good question.

So from the very beginning, I never believed I could make money from the online space aside from fraud (Yahoo).

I have always wanted financial freedom, considering the background I came from and the ability to do my own thing at my own pace without anyone bossing me around.

Also, looking at the educational system and the limited jobs we have in the country, has a way of breaking my heart. So, I have always been looking for a system that could give me leverage to help myself and also help other people as well.

When I stumbled on crypto, the technology was mind-blowing, and the possibility of being financially free was there. I had no other choice but to grab it with both hands, and that's how the journey into blockchain technology started in 2019.

Lauretta:

So You are the founder of Jomil PR Agency, what is it about and how did you come about that?

Joshua:

In June 2022, I lost my job as a promoter in a crypto agency due to the downtrend in the crypto market. The agency was downsizing, and it affected me.

This hit me wrongly because I did not see it coming. I was down for 2 months because all my life was dependent on that job. After my downtime, I began to see things differently. Then in December 2021, I started building a personal brand on LinkedIn and learned a couple of skills.

Looking at the services my agency was offering back then, I did not see branding or content marketing. The service that was rendered then was guerrilla marketing and community building. I did deep research about most projects in the crypto space.

Then I realized that most of them lacked branding and also many founders do not believe in content marketing. Whereas without proper branding, your projects can never grow regardless of the hype and marketing.

And content marketing will bring sustainability to a project. Then I was saddled with the responsibility of building an agency that will pay more attention to branding for projects and content marketing. And not just that but will also create jobs for people in the crypto space. That was how JOMIL PR AGENCY came about.

I started the agency with a few friends who never believed in the vision I had. This led to the failure of the agency. In just a year, I have failed five times in building the agency. But through my failures, I learned to do things differently.

Lauretta:

tell us about your challenges in the blockchain industry.

Joshua:

So the major challenge I have in the blockchain industry has been adoption and user interaction.

We are all about onboarding as many people as possible into the web3 space, but we need more educational awareness for the masses at large.

Also, people in Africa are all about money, especially in Nigeria. I know of, forgetting the fact that without in-depth education about how the crypto space works, it will be impossible to make that money.

For money to be made in crypto, we need to pay more attention to the educational sector of the space to get its full potential.

Lauretta:

Finally, what do you have to say to the upcoming crypto enthusiasts?

Joshua:

For the upcoming crypto enthusiast, all I can say is when you want to come into space, look at the long-term sustainability of the space rather than looking for short-term gains. Go after education, and the money will come.
