JPMorgan, a prominent figure in the financial realm, has expressed skepticism regarding the likelihood of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) granting approval for Solana and similar cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs), especially in the wake of the recent approval of Ethereum ETFs. Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou, managing director and global market strategist at JPMorgan, conveyed the investment bank's reservations to The Block, citing the SEC's stance on the classification of cryptocurrencies as securities as a significant obstacle. "We doubt," Panigirtzoglou remarked. "The decision by the SEC to approve ETH ETFs is already stretched given the ambiguity about whether Ethereum should be classified as security or not. We don't think the SEC would go even further by approving Solana or other token ETFs given the SEC has stronger (relative to Ethereum) opinion that tokens outside bitcoin and Ethereum should be classified as securities."
