She highlighted the transformative impact of crypto and blockchain on the financial system, particularly in empowering Atlanta’s Black-owned businesses. Addressing financial inclusion, Bottoms expressed her commitment to tackling issues affecting communities of color who are disproportionately unbanked or underbanked.

Bottoms underscored the need for fair regulation in the crypto industry, as reported separately by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) during her appearance at Crypto Votes Atlanta on June 26. She stressed the industry's call for equitable and accessible regulation that treats financial products fairly and excludes bad actors.

Her involvement with crypto intensified following the Lockbit ransomware attack on Fulton County in early 2024, which she cited as her initial exposure to the crypto landscape.

Bottoms, also a member of Coinbase’s Global Advisory Council since April, is set to join Joe Biden’s presidential campaign as a senior adviser, according to a report by Ebony on June 26. She previously served in the Biden administration as Director of the Office of Public Engagement from July 2022 to 2023 and held the position of President’s Senior Adviser during the same period. She served as Atlanta’s mayor from January 2018 to January 2022.
