The European Banking Authority (EBA) has finalized MiCA, which is poised to limit the availability of stablecoins like USDT to EU investors. Marcus Hughes, Kraken's global regulatory strategy head, mentioned that they are evaluating all possibilities, including the potential removal of USDT from their platform. Tether, the entity behind USDT, acknowledged Kraken's considerations and anticipates exchanges to continue offering USDT while emphasizing EUR liquidity for European clients.

Previously, Tether's CEO Paolo Ardoino expressed reservations about the necessity of MiCA and stated that Tether currently has no immediate plans to comply with the new regulations.
