Kusama, the canary network for Polkadot, achieved a significant milestone by selling its first batch of Agile Coretime recently. Reports indicate that three cores were sold, totaling 70 KSM, valued at approximately $1,980. Each core was sold at an average price of 23.4 KSM, around $660.

Agile Coretime enables developers to purchase up to 4 weeks or 28 days of uninterrupted blockspace for their application chains. Polkadot enthusiast Alice und Bob explained that more cores will become available as the traditional auction model ends and more parachains transition to Coretime.

Parity Technologies, the developers of the Polkadot blockchain, echoed these sentiments, expressing excitement about the sales and highlighting their importance in bringing Agile Coretime to the Polkadot mainnet.

According to Parity, Agile core usage and Coretime allocation will allow applications to access Polkadot's computational resources based on their specific requirements, optimizing blockspace utilization and scalability.

Gavin Wood, the founder of Polkadot, emphasized that this model would revolutionize resource allocation within the network, offering a new approach to blockspace allocation. He stated that the monthly sale of Coretime enables developers to scale block space as needed, while the pay-as-needed option allows for on-demand resource access, potentially unlocking innovation, increasing capacity, and improving resource management within the Polkadot ecosystem.

This update coincides with Polkadot's preparation for the introduction of the Join-Accumulate Machine (JAM) upgrade. Observers anticipate that this upgrade will transform Polkadot into a multi-core world computer capable of handling any service without scalability or security concerns.
