Blast, an Ethereum Layer 2 network founded by Tieshun Roquerre, creator of the NFT marketplace Blur, is set to launch its highly anticipated token airdrop next week. The announcement was made via a post on X, detailing the necessary steps for users to qualify for the airdrop and the distribution mechanics involved.

According to the post, users must complete specific actions to be eligible for the airdrop. Decentralized applications (dapps) must distribute reward incentives, such as Gold and Points, to users by 8 a.m. ET on June 25. The airdrop will be divided equally, with 50% allocated to developers through Blast Gold and the remaining 50% distributed to early users via Blast Points. These allocations are based on the users' wallet and dapp balances.

“50% of the Blast Airdrop is allocated to Blast Points,” the project stated, explaining that users' wallets will earn Points automatically for every block based on their balances. For developers, Blast Gold is intended to incentivize the growth of dapps, with the expectation that dapps will distribute 100% of any Gold earned to their users.

To be included in the airdrop, users must sign into their Blast dashboard with an eligible externally owned account (EOA) at least once. “If you are a user and your EOA has Points or Gold, you must have signed into your Blast dashboard with that EOA at least once (either by receiving an invite or linking it to an existing account) in order for it to be included in the airdrop calculations,” Blast emphasized.

Initially slated for May, the airdrop was delayed, with the project announcing an increased allocation to compensate for the postponement. Blast has been in early access mode since its launch in November 2023 and has shown substantial growth. The total value locked (TVL) on Blast reached $2.09 billion at the time of publication, down slightly from $2.3 billion on June 6, according to DefiLlama data.

Blast-based games have also seen significant traction recently. The crypto trading card game "Fantasy" launched on the Blast mainnet in April following successful testnet trials. Additionally, the protocol entered the top 10 platforms by daily fees generated last month, showcasing its growing popularity and utility.

This airdrop represents a significant step for Blast in rewarding its early adopters and developers, fostering a robust and engaged community as it continues to expand its ecosystem.
