In a recent update, LayerZero Labs CEO Bryan Pellegrino revealed that up to 100,000 addresses have self-identified as Sybil attackers, taking advantage of the project's airdrop.

This milestone marks the end of the self-reporting initiative aimed at combating Sybil activity, where individuals create multiple accounts to unfairly influence token airdrops. The team offered a 15% token allocation incentive for participants who came forward, with the alternative being no allocation.

The response has been significant, with 100,000 addresses reported, providing valuable data to identify other participants using similar methods and software. Pellegrino expressed enthusiasm about the potential of this data, stating, "A confirmed data set of 100,000+ will be extremely powerful in finding others using the same software or similar methodologies."

LayerZero, an interoperability protocol, enables users to move assets and data across different chains. After completing the first snapshot on May 1, the team found that 6 million unique wallet addresses had interacted with LayerZero. To combat Sybil activity, LayerZero Labs offered an incentive for Sybil users to self-report within two weeks, leading to this substantial response.
