MakerDAO, the decentralized autonomous organization behind the creation of the Dai stablecoin, has announced plans to introduce a new stablecoin called PureDai. This initiative aims to offer a fully decentralized alternative to Dai, which currently relies on a mix of centralized and decentralized collateral. The launch of PureDai is anticipated to occur over the next few years.

Transitioning towards complete decentralization, PureDai's concept was initially proposed by Rune Christensen, MakerDAO's CEO and co-founder. Unlike Dai, PureDai will exclusively accept decentralized assets such as Ethereum as collateral, eliminating reliance on various assets including USDC.

PureDai will operate solely on the Ethereum mainnet and utilize decentralized oracles for price feeds to mitigate the influence of any single entity on its value. Unlike Dai's fixed peg to the US dollar, PureDai's peg will float freely, catering to users prioritizing decentralization and resilience over fiat-backed stability.

Addressing the need for flexibility, Christensen mentioned that Dai users will have the option to upgrade to PureDai, emphasizing the platform's commitment to accommodating user preferences.

In addition to PureDai, MakerDAO plans to introduce NewStable, another stablecoin with a conventional USD peg, focusing on growth, dividends, and resilience. NewStable will integrate with traditional financial systems, making it more suitable for mainstream adoption compared to PureDai. Moreover, it will comply with regulations governing real-world assets (RWA), bridging the gap between traditional finance and decentralized finance (De-Fi).

The launch of PureDai and NewStable underscores MakerDAO's commitment to innovation and adaptability in the dynamic De-Fi landscape. By offering two distinct stablecoins, MakerDAO aims to meet diverse user demands and enhance its market presence in the long run.
