Manchester City Football Club has announced a multi-year partnership with Quidd, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands. This collaboration aims to develop and launch digital collectibles, promotions, and new fan experiences, bringing the world of football into the digital age.

The Premier League powerhouse will work closely with Quidd to create "special edition" digital collectibles, including cards that will unlock real-world experiences for fans. Tom Boyle, Vice-President of Global Partnerships Marketing and Operations at City Football Group, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating:

"We're excited to help transform the traditional football pastime of cards and collectibles in a new digital age alongside Quidd, enabling us to further connect with our fans across the globe. We look forward to working together on creating new digital experiences and games for our fans to enjoy."

The inaugural product of this partnership will be a series of 200 bespoke digital player cards, set to launch on May 2. As an added incentive, the first 10,000 "Cityzens" (the colloquial term for Manchester City fans) to purchase packs will receive two exclusive "For the Fans" packs.

The digital rewards unlocked through the Quidd packs will open doors to a range of real-world experiences and opportunities. Fans will have the chance to participate in events, purchase official Manchester City merchandise and hospitality tickets, and even win "money-can't-buy experiences," such as the exclusive opportunity to watch a first-team training session at the City Football Academy.

This partnership with Quidd is part of Manchester City's broader efforts to embrace digital innovation and engage with fans on a global scale. Recently, the club launched its "Unseen City Shirts" NFT collection on the OKX blockchain, with a limited number of NFTs tied to physical, limited-edition jerseys featuring hand-painted artwork.

Additionally, Manchester City has ventured into the metaverse, partnering with Sony in 2022 to build a virtual version of Etihad Stadium, reportedly the first officially-licensed football stadium to be constructed in the metaverse.

While Manchester City is exploring digital avenues, other clubs are turning to cryptocurrency for their long-term futures. The Winklevoss twins recently invested $4.5 million into Bitcoin podcaster Peter McCormack's Real Bedford Football Club, contributing to the club's Bitcoin treasury and expressing their bullish outlook on both BTC and the club's chances of one day reaching the Premier League.
