Metis, an Ethereum Layer-2 network, has integrated Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) technology to drive ecosystem expansion, as per a statement shared with CryptoSlate on Feb. 29.

The integration of CCIP will provide Metis with access to a robust token bridge infrastructure, bolstering its cross-chain capabilities and enhancing user and developer experiences. This move is expected to accelerate the adoption of Layer-2 solutions within the industry.

Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs, noted:

“Through secure cross-chain interoperability via CCIP, Metis can deliver a smoother developer and user experience within its ecosystem while facilitating the adoption of its layer-2 network.”

In terms of benefits, Chainlink’s CCIP will act as the primary token bridge infrastructure for Metis, initially enabling the bridging of Ethereum-based stablecoins to the Metis network. This integration is set to enrich the stablecoin ecosystem on Metis and potentially amplify its market presence by tapping into Ethereum’s extensive stablecoin volume.

Moreover, the collaboration offers Metis accelerated token transfers, a standardized cross-chain interface, and access to Programmable Token Transfers. Additionally, Metis stands to benefit from Chainlink’s vibrant Web3 developer community and established position in the capital markets.
