The Sprott Physical Gold Trust is a closed-end fund that holds its assets in physical gold bullion, offering investors exposure to gold without the need to manage physical bullion themselves. The fund specifically invests in London Good Delivery (LGD) physical gold bullion produced by London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) refiners.

Burry's move underscores renewed interest in gold among investors, driven by geopolitical and economic conditions worldwide. While Burry hasn't disclosed his motives for this investment, other analysts believe gold still has potential for growth. Financial analyst Peter Schiff, for example, has predicted significant price increases in gold, suggesting that investors capitalize on what could be the most substantial bull market in precious metals history.

Gold market analyst Jan Nieuwenhuijs has highlighted various factors indicating the beginning of a multiyear bull market for gold, including increased central bank purchases of gold and high stock market valuations. Nieuwenhuijs' analysis suggests gold prices could potentially reach $8,000 per ounce over the next decade.

Apart from gold, Burry's investment portfolio includes Chinese e-tailers like JD.com and Alibaba, along with other holdings such as Citigroup, HCA Healthcare, and Sprott Physical Gold Trust, as indicated in regulatory filings.
