Security firm Cyvers uncovered the incident, revealing that the victim's wallet was hemorrhaged of over 97% of its contents – a staggering sum exceeding $67 million worth of Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC). Apparently, a single mistyped address sent their digital fortune vanishing into the pockets of a scammer.

This devious trick, known as address poisoning, preys on carelessness and haste. Scammers create a wallet address that closely resembles a legitimate one, often mimicking the first and last few characters. One tiny typo during a transaction and – poof! – your crypto disappears.
