While the anticipation for a spot ether exchange-traded fund (ETF) in the United States received a boost on Monday, the three spot ether ETFs in Hong Kong experienced a lackluster performance, recording zero flows.

Managed by prominent entities including China Asset Management, Harvest, Bosera, and HashKey, these Hong Kong-based ETFs saw no inflows or outflows on Monday, following a net outflow of 31.32 ether on Friday, as per data from SosoValue. Despite this, their combined total net assets stood at $41.14 million on Monday.

In contrast, Hong Kong's trio of spot bitcoin ETFs demonstrated a different trend, garnering a total net inflow of 99.8 BTC on Monday. This followed a net inflow of 93.57 BTC on Friday, following a net outflow of 200.27 BTC on Thursday.

Across the Pacific in the United States, the outlook for spot bitcoin ETFs remained positive, with 11 ETFs reporting the sixth consecutive day of inflows on Monday, amounting to $241.12 million. In the past six days alone, these products have witnessed total net inflows surpassing $1.18 billion.

The surge in optimism surrounding spot ether ETFs in the US comes amid reports that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has requested firms seeking to list such ETFs to update their filings. Bloomberg ETF analysts James Seyffart and Eric Balchunas have revised their outlook, indicating an increased likelihood of the SEC approving spot ether ETFs, from 25% to 75%.

As the regulatory landscape evolves and market dynamics shift, the performance of spot ether ETFs in different regions provides valuable insights into investor sentiment and expectations surrounding the potential approval of these innovative investment vehicles.
