Following the loss and subsequent recovery of almost $63 million by Munchables, an NFT game, due to a rogue developer, the platform has unveiled measures to prevent such mishaps in the future.

On March 26, Munchables, an Ethereum-based NFT game, fell victim to a hacker who turned out to be one of its own developers, but the situation was resolved when the developer returned the stolen funds without any ransom demands.

Now, Munchables is implementing changes to enhance the security of its funds and smart contracts. These changes include bringing in Manifold Trading, Selini Capital, and ZachXBT as new multisig signers to safeguard users' funds.

Additionally, developers from Manifold Trading and Selini Capital will conduct audits, upgrade contracts, and oversee the hiring process for Munchables' developers. Nethermind will conduct further audits before Munchables relaunches.

The platform plans to offer higher rewards to returning gamers and provide financial assistance to those involved in the recovery efforts. Users are advised against claiming refunds through external websites, as refunds will be sent directly to their wallets.

In March, blockchain security firm PeckShield reported nearly $100 million in digital asset theft, with over 30 hacking incidents totaling $187 million in losses. However, 52.8% of the stolen funds were recovered.

Notably, the Munchables incident was among the top five security breaches, alongside the Curio hack, Prisma Finance incident, NFPrompt hack, and WOOFi exploit.
