The NEAR Foundation has taken a significant stride in fortifying its infrastructure by establishing the Infrastructure Committee, allocating $4 million for upgrading the blockchain's core functionalities. This move stems from the escalating user and transaction volumes on NEAR, underscoring the necessity for a robust architecture to support the project's growth.

Comprising ecosystem leaders and partners from NEAR organizations, the Committee is committed to decentralized decision-making, prioritizing critical infrastructure enhancements, and fostering community engagement through synchronized feedback mechanisms. Multiple Request For Proposals (RFPs) will be solicited to address system challenges.

To date, the Committee has approved funding for five fundamental proposals and is overseeing ongoing projects like Aurora RPC SpeedUp and MyNEARWallets maintenance. With over half of the allocated budget already disbursed, the Committee is actively seeking innovative projects to further bolster NEAR's infrastructure.

Encouraging input from NEAR community members, including founders, developers, and enthusiasts, the Committee operates with a team drawn from NEAR Foundation and related projects, ensuring meticulous monitoring of project development progress.

The Committee has devised an interim proposal and funding process, inviting community members to submit projects for review. Maintaining transparency, the Committee has made proposal tracking documents and meeting notes publicly accessible, fostering discussions and collaborations on proposed infrastructure enhancements.

Plans are underway for implementing an Incident Management System and a Value Stream Optimization App via a Blockchain Operating System (BOS)-based application, all geared towards sustaining NEAR's growth and ensuring the blockchain's functional readiness to meet growing demand.

As NEAR's ecosystem expands, the Infrastructure Committee assumes an increasingly pivotal role in fortifying the network's resilience and scalability, thereby enhancing blockchain performance and reliability.
