A staggering 80% of newly listed cryptocurrencies on Binance, the world's largest digital asset exchange, have seen their value plummet in the past six months. This trend has raised concerns among investors seeking to capitalize on the latest crypto opportunities. According to crypto researcher Flow, most new tokens on Binance are listed with inflated valuations, despite lacking a substantial user base.

Only a handful of tokens, including MEME, ORDI, JUP, JTO, and WIF, have seen their value appreciate. The ORDI token, which lacks venture capitalist backing, has been the most profitable, with a remarkable 261% increase since its launch. However, the majority of new listings are backed by top-tier venture capitalists and launch with valuations exceeding $4.2 billion, often without a strong community or real users.

Flow warns that investing in these new listings can be detrimental, with a portfolio decline of over 18% if investments are made equally across each new listing. This suggests that many tokens launching on Binance are not viable investment opportunities, but rather exit liquidity for insiders who exploit retail investors' limited access to early investment opportunities.

The current token launch dynamics have been criticized for prioritizing hype over user acquisition, with short vesting schedules and fake metrics contributing to the problem. Crypto researcher Flow argues that a new approach to token launches is needed, one that avoids releasing tokens at high, fully diluted valuations, which can lead to value erosion and minimal market interest. Instead, launching at lower valuations can generate momentum and interest, benefiting both the token and the crypto industry as a whole.
