BICCoN, a coalition of leading blockchain organizations in Nigeria including Blockchain Nigeria User Group (BNUG), Cryptography Development Initiative of Nigeria (CDIN), and Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology Association of Nigeria (SiBAN), issued a public statement addressing the situation involving Binance and its detained executive, Tigran Gambaryan. Chairman Lucky Uwakwe expressed apprehension about the implications of the Binance case on Nigeria's national interests, the reputation of its blockchain industry, and international collaborations.

According to BICCoN, the prolonged legal battle and the detention of Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla have adversely affected industry collaborations, investments, and Nigeria's global standing. This has resulted in a chilling effect on foreign investments and partnerships with Nigerian web3 startups, crucial for fostering innovation, job creation, and economic growth.

Uwakwe highlighted the precarious state of maintaining and expanding innovative partnerships amid the current hostile environment, which has already impacted investment activities.
