Nitrogen, a public Arbitrum testnet powered by Celestia as a modular decentralized application (DA) framework, has recently been launched. This public testnet is the result of a collaboration between Celestia, AltLayer, and Arbitrum.

AltLayer announced the release of the testnet via a tweet, highlighting Nitrogen's utilization of Celestia Blobstream and Arbitrum Nitro fraud proofs to integrate with Arbitrum Sepolia.

The platform leverages Celestia to allow developers to deploy orbit chains, including smart contracts, with minimal setup time and overhead. Nitrogen utilizes Blobstream to relay commitments across the Celestia data root, which are then transmitted to an on-chain light client over Arbitrum and Ethereum, significantly reducing call data expenses. AltLayer also mentioned Nitrogen's Ethereum fallback mechanism, which ensures fund security during network downtime by allowing Layer 2s and Layer 3s to revert to Ethereum call data for decentralized applications (DA), providing users with peace of mind.

AltLayer expressed gratitude to Automata Network for their faucet assistance and conveyed their enthusiasm for collaborating with Celestia.

Additionally, the network shared a step-by-step guide to assist users in getting started with the Nitrogen testnet:

1. Users can begin by adding the network to their wallets from the Rollup Info Page.

2. Next, users should access the Public Faucet to acquire Nitrogen Testnet ETH for network usage.

3. Users interested in bridging personal Testnet ETH to the Nitrogen testnet can do so via the Arbitrum bridge interface by activating Testnet Mode from Settings.

4. Once Testnet Mode is activated, users can copy the Nitrogen Testnet Orbit Chain data and add the Testnet Orbit Chain.

5. Users should then bridge the Sepolia Testnet ETH to the Arbitrum Sepolia testnet.

6. It will take a minute for the Arbitrum Sepolia Testnet ETH to be bridged to the Nitrogen Testnet.

7. Once completed, users can commence using the Nitrogen Testnet ETH on the testnet.
