To identify the safeguards for such an extension and to determine market demand, the exchange has launched a survey.

Although these platforms presently have significant limitations, this attempt is a response to the growing trend of longer trading hours on platforms like as Interactive Brokers and Robinhood.

The pandemic increased retail investor involvement and expectations for 24/7 market access, which is why the NYSE is exploring round-the-clock trading as part of a bigger transition.

Among the challenges in moving towards a 24/7 trading paradigm are preserving liquidity and reducing settlement risks.
