Decentralised exchange (DEX) protocol PancakeSwap announced it is airdropping 2.4 million ZKSync (ZK) tokens to its users.

Specifically, PancakeSwap will distribute 2,452,128 ZK tokens to its community to reward their unwavering support. This airdrop is a token of appreciation for our 'longstanding contributors' who have been instrumental in PancakeSwap's growth and a warm welcome to new users actively engaging with the platform.

The airdrop period began on Friday, July 5, at 10:30 a.m. UTC and will continue until August 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. At the end of this period, any unclaimed tokens will be reallocated to the ecosystem to fund future development and community initiatives.

Allocation

Regarding allocation, PancakeSwap has divided eligible users into three groups: veCAKE holders, past contributors, and future contributors. veCAKE holders will receive 26.5% of the airdrop, past ecosystem contributors 27%, and future contributors 46.5% of the 2.4 million ZK tokens. The snapshot period for veCAKE holders and past contributors is from July 26, 2023, to June 26, 2024, except for traverse campaign participants, whose period is from July 27, 2023, to September 27, 2023.

PancakeSwap, deployed on ZKSync in July 2023, has experienced remarkable growth over the past year. We've introduced seamless swaps, yield farming, and prediction markets and added features like a fiat on-ramp, Position Manager, and Syrup Pools. This growth has led to a trading volume surpassing $3.6 billion and total value locked (TVL) reaching $5.8 billion. The total trader count has also increased sharply, exceeding 1.9 million.
