Paxos, a leading stablecoin issuer, has made the strategic decision to reduce its workforce by 20%, resulting in the loss of 65 jobs. This move, announced via internal email, is aimed at enabling the company to capitalize on future opportunities in the stablecoin and tokenization sectors. To achieve this, Paxos plans to discontinue certain services and concentrate its resources on these key areas.

The affected employees have been offered a comprehensive support package, including three months of subsidized health insurance, outplacement assistance, 13 weeks of severance pay, and a two-year extension to exercise vested options. Additionally, employees participating in the quarterly incentive program will receive bonuses for the second quarter, and those on approved parental or medical leave will receive specific payments and benefits. Following these layoffs, Paxos' workforce now ranges between 200 and 300 employees.

Despite the reduction in workforce, Paxos' CEO and co-founder, Charles Cascarilla, has confirmed that the company remains in a strong financial position, with over $500 million in its balance sheet. This innovative stablecoin is designed to distribute the yield generated from its reserves to eligible wallet addresses on a daily basis, providing a new level of benefits to token holders.
