Peak Mining, a subsidiary of Northern Data, a German bitcoin mining and infrastructure company, has revealed its acquisition of a 300-megawatt (MW) ERCOT-approved site in Corpus Christi, Texas. This purchase, announced on Friday, follows another acquisition of a 300 MW site finalized last December, with both sites located adjacent to each other. The construction is currently underway, and the new site is expected to be operational by early 2025.

The announcement emphasizes the deployment of indoor, custom-designed, fully-integrated, and liquid-cooled HPC data center systems, aimed at significantly accelerating deployment speed and reducing infrastructure costs. According to Peak's managing director, Niek Beudeker, the acquisition of this second large site will substantially shorten their time to hashing and facilitate one of the fastest mining expansions globally. With almost 700MW of sites in active development, Peak anticipates potentially providing up to 40 exahash per second (EH/s) of hashrate when fully fitted with their latest-generation hardware.

Saxet Infrastructure Group will oversee the construction management for the design, build, and energization of the substation. The CEO of Saxet expressed excitement about supporting Northern Data Group's expansion in the ERCOT market and welcomed them to the Corpus Christi area, citing the combination of base load industrial demand and significant renewable resources as a unique opportunity for their portfolio.

This acquisition follows Peak's recent agreement for 28 MW of mining capacity in Paraguay, which will utilize 100% renewable energy. The Paraguayan facility will install around 2,860 units of Microbt's M63-series liquid-cooled Whatsminers. Additionally, Peak highlighted minimal electricity costs, with a power rate of less than $0.04 per kilowatt hour (kWh).
