Polygon announced that Union is bringing Cosmos to AggLayer to improve cross-chain transactions and inter-network communication. This integration will use zero-knowledge proofs to enable sovereign chains to share liquidity and state safely, allowing seamless asset transfers and message passing between IBC and all chains on AggLayer.

Union isn't the only AggLayer integration. Previous integrations include Polygon zkEVM, X Layer, and Astar zkEVM, making AggLayer one of the largest crypto networks in terms of transaction volume, users, and total value locked (TVL).

Polygon views this as a significant step, benefiting not only its native ecosystem but also Cosmos and Union plus AggLayer. It opens up opportunities for transactions, cross-network building, smoother user experiences, and tapping aggregated users.

Cosmos was chosen for integration due to its architecture, which supports shared liquidity and state across sovereign chains. The development is considered a win-win-win scenario, as it facilitates the free flow of native asset liquidity across networks, benefiting users.

The announcement positively affected MATIC, Polygon’s native token, which increased by 1.28% in the last 24 hours. However, its value decreased by 24.88% and 30.15% in the last 7 and 30 days, respectively. This follows Polygon’s launch of the X Layer by OKX, allowing over 50 million users to access AggLayer's unified liquidity.

X Layer, which uses OKB, the native token of OKX, for gas fees, is the third protocol on AggLayer, joining Polygon zkEVM and Astar EVM.

Polygon Labs recently received ISO 27001 Certification for its information security management systems, as of April 15, 2024.

Polygon is optimistic about the integration with Union, expecting it to enhance cross-chain transactions and inter-network communications. Zero-knowledge proofs will ensure safe liquidity and state sharing among sovereign chains. Union now joins an ecosystem that already includes X Layer, Polygon zkEVM, and Astar zkEVM.
