Cyvers' analysis, shared via a post on X, points to a curious blend of actions by the attacker. While leveraging Tornado Cash hints at attempts to conceal the origin of funds—a tactic often favored by nefarious actors—engagement with Binance, a platform mandating KYC verification, raises eyebrows. This incident comes in the wake of a recent exploit involving Gala Games, where $23 million worth of Gala (GALA) tokens were compromised due to an internal control flaw. Notably, the hacker opted to return a significant portion of the stolen funds after Gala Games co-founder Eric Schiermeyer disclosed the alleged perpetrator's identity and home address.

The Gala Games incident mirrors a similar occurrence earlier in May, wherein an unknown attacker refunded $71 million worth of crypto stolen in a wallet poisoning attack. Initially believed to be an ethical hacker, subsequent transactions hinted at ulterior motives, suggesting the individual was motivated by concerns over heightened scrutiny rather than ethical considerations.
