In a testament to its promising trajectory, Puffer, a leading liquid restaking protocol, has secured a substantial $18 million in a Series A funding round. Spearheaded by Brevan Howard Digital and Electric Capital, and backed by industry heavyweights like Coinbase Ventures and Kraken Ventures, this investment underscores robust confidence in Puffer's potential.

The infusion of capital is strategically allocated for the imminent launch of Puffer's mainnet, a pivotal milestone in its developmental journey. This funding round follows a previous raise of $5.5 million, co-led by Lemniscap and Lightspeed Faction.

Positioned as the second-largest liquid restaking protocol after Ether.Fi, Puffer occupies a central role within Ethereum's burgeoning restaking landscape, alongside notable counterparts like EigenLayer. These protocols have attracted substantial attention and deposits, with EigenLayer alone boasting $12.7 billion in assets under management, according to DeFiLlama.

Operating atop EigenLayer, Puffer empowers Ethereum stakers to earn yields through actively validated services (AVS), issuing pufETH tokens to users as representations of their deposits, thus facilitating seamless trading and other activities.

Despite its pending mainnet launch, Puffer has already demonstrated considerable traction, surpassing $1 billion in deposits as of March. Amir Amir Forouzani, CEO of Puffer Finance, expressed bullish sentiment regarding the protocol's potential impact on Ethereum's decentralization and the broader restaking ecosystem.

"With our forthcoming mainnet launch, we aspire to significantly lower the barriers for home validators to participate, while delivering the most sophisticated liquid restaking protocol," stated Forouzani. "This marks a significant stride towards enhancing Ethereum's decentralization and fostering the growth of the wider restaking ecosystem."
