In a significant development for the digital asset industry, crypto options trading platform QCP Capital has achieved initial approval to commence operations in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

According to a recent report by Bloomberg, QCP Capital has been granted in-principle approval by the Financial Services Authority Abu Dhabi Global Markets (ADGM) to establish its regulated digital asset business. This milestone marks QCP Capital as the first market maker and cryptocurrency broker to receive such preliminary authorization in Abu Dhabi.

Arvind Ramamurthy, Chief of Market Development at ADGM, expressed confidence in ADGM's regulatory frameworks and highlighted the progressive nature of the region's evolving digital assets landscape. He anticipates that more companies, recognizing the comprehensive regulatory environment provided by ADGM, will choose Abu Dhabi as their regional hub.

For QCP Capital, the decision to expand into Abu Dhabi aligns with its strategic vision. Melvin Deng, CEO of QCP Capital, emphasized the Middle East's significance as a hub for capital flows between Europe and Asia. This move underscores the region's growing importance in the global cryptocurrency market ecosystem.

QCP Capital, renowned as one of the largest cryptocurrency options trading firms, boasts a substantial track record, with over $60 billion in cryptocurrency derivatives trading volume recorded in 2023 alone. With approximately 70 employees, QCP Capital plans to relocate some of its staff to Abu Dhabi once it obtains full regulatory approval.

Abu Dhabi's appeal as a destination for cryptocurrency firms continues to rise, contrasting with regulatory challenges faced by such companies in jurisdictions like the United States. In a strategic move to capitalize on the region's growth potential, QCP Capital recently announced a partnership with Further Ventures, aiming to enhance its presence in Middle Eastern markets. Together, QCP Capital and Further Ventures are poised to introduce innovative financial products tailored for trading and secure storage of crypto assets, further cementing Abu Dhabi's position as a burgeoning hub for the digital asset industry.
