Centrifuge, a platform for decentralized finance involving real-world assets, has made history by completing the first transaction of tokenized real-world assets on the Celo blockchain.

In a recent blog post, Centrifuge announced that the Celo ecosystem has invested $1 million in US Treasuries through the Anemoy Liquid Treasury Fund.

Anemoy is a web3-native asset manager with a licensed US Treasury fund based in the British Virgin Islands. This fund has seen a surge in interest from investors due to its low-risk yield.

Alex Witt from Celo expressed that Centrifuge is a key partner in expanding the variety of assets available within the Celo ecosystem, citing their expertise in onboarding on-chain assets like private credit in a secure and compliant manner.

The connection between Centrifuge and Celo, made possible through the cross-chain interoperability protocol Axelar, has led to a rise in demand for tokenized Treasury bills and other assets such as carbon credit pools due to recent developments like BlackRock entering the RWA space with the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL).

Financial giant HSBC has also introduced tokenized gold tokens, further fueling the growing market for tokenized assets. In response, various crypto tokens like Ondo (ONDO), Polymesh (POLYX), and Pendle (PENDLE) have experienced significant price surges in recent weeks.

Despite a minor decline in value over the past day, Centrifuge (CFG) has shown a 40% increase in value in the last 30 days. The token has reached a high of $1.10 this week, representing a more than 500% increase from its low in January of last year.
