In a major victory against cybercrime, Rexxfield, a leading crypto recovery service, has successfully recovered and returned nearly 10 Bitcoin (BTC) stolen from a U.S. investor. The recovered assets, valued at over $670,000, were stolen through a sophisticated online scam in West Africa.

The victim, lured by a social media influencer, sent 10 BTC to a fake "offline wallet" controlled by scammers in Nigeria. Unaware of the scam, the victim continued to send additional funds, totaling $326,000, before realizing something was amiss. Local law enforcement was unable to assist due to the nature of the crime, but Rexxfield's expert investigators were able to unravel the scam and identify three Nigerian suspects behind the scheme.

With the help of the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), two suspects were apprehended, while the third remains at large. The Utah State Bureau of Investigation handled the civil forfeiture process, and the funds were returned to the victim on April 17, 2024. This successful recovery highlights the importance of private investigators and international collaboration in the fight against online crime.
