Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse extended a warm welcome to Jack McDonald, the newly appointed Senior Vice President (SVP) of stablecoins at Ripple. McDonald joins Ripple from Standard Custody, where he served as CEO.

Garlinghouse expressed his enthusiasm for McDonald's arrival, highlighting his extensive experience in the financial sector spanning over three decades. McDonald previously held prominent roles such as Managing Director at UBS Investment Bank and President/CEO of Conifer Financial Services. Additionally, McDonald is involved in PolySign, a fintech firm associated with Ripple's Arthur Britto and David Schwartz.

Standard Custody, a digital asset custodian and subsidiary of PolySign, was acquired by Ripple in February as part of its efforts to expand its regulatory licenses. McDonald's appointment as SVP of stablecoins aligns with Ripple's strategy to enter the stablecoin market, as announced earlier this year. Ripple aims to introduce its dollar-backed cryptocurrency initially running on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum.

Despite the competitive landscape of the stablecoin market, Ripple President Monica Long expressed confidence that the stablecoin project would launch this year. With the acquisition of Standard Custody finalized, Ripple continues to strengthen its position in the digital asset space.

McDonald will maintain his role as CEO of Standard Custody while assuming the responsibilities of SVP of stablecoins at Ripple. The company's robust financial standing positions it for further expansion and potential acquisitions in the future, as indicated in a recent blog post.
