Ronin will implement updates to its slashing rules as part of the transition to the DPoS upgrade. The network plans to briefly pause the Ronin bridge to prevent any potential issues during the shift, with the pause scheduled just before the hard fork. Operations will resume once the network confirms smooth functioning, with the pause expected to last no more than a day.

Additionally, Ronin will adjust its slashing rules to be less severe and more accommodating, particularly for new node operators, as part of the delegated proof-of-stake shift. This information was shared via Ronin's official Twitter account. The gaming-focused L2 blockchain recently introduced its staking feature and onboarded five reputable gaming studios.

Since its launch in 2021, Ronin has utilized the PoA (proof-of-authority) model for transaction validation. While effective, this model imposed limitations such as a restricted number of validators, leading to a departure from decentralization. Hence, the decision to transition to DPoS, a departure from the PoS consensus model.

Under DPoS, validator selection is based on votes from native token holders, with only RON holders having authority to assign one of the 22 validators. Validators are chosen based on their commission rate, uptime, and community contributions.
