On June 14, Uyeda highlighted that representing asset rights through digital tokens on a blockchain can provide enhanced security, transparency, and immutability. He further noted that tokenization eliminates the need for intermediaries, thereby simplifying transactions and reducing costs.

Uyeda characterized tokenization as part of broader technological advancements, suggesting that these innovations could bring greater efficiencies to global markets and benefit investors. He referenced a 2020 whitepaper by the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), which indicated a global shift away from physical securities certificates towards new technologies like distributed ledger technology (DLT) and digital and tokenized securities, describing them as cutting-edge fintech innovations.

Regarding regulatory developments, Uyeda mentioned the UK Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) Asset Management Task Force, which began reviewing the tokenization of FCA-authorized funds in November 2023. He emphasized the importance of thorough research by regulators to foster innovation while ensuring investor protection.

Uyeda clarified that his statements reflect his personal views and do not necessarily represent the official stance of the SEC on securities tokenization.
