SK Telecom (SKT) is intensifying its presence in the worldwide AI landscape. Recently, it convened a meeting at its Silicon Valley base with CEOs from four new AI collaborators – CMES, MakinaRocks, Scatter Lab, and FriendliAI – to explore mutual business prospects and pave the way for AI industry leadership.

SKT has been actively fostering AI advancement through strategic alliances with various AI firms. At MWC 2023, it announced partnerships with seven AI companies: SAPEON, Bespin Global, Moloco, Konan Technology, Swit, Phantom AI, and Tuat.

During the meeting, SKT’s CEO Ryu Young-sang delineated the company’s AI vision and discussed its business strategies with the AI partners. SKT and its AI counterparts engaged in detailed talks on global AI trends, technological advancements, ongoing R&D projects, and international business and investment prospects.

A notable dialogue occurred between SKT and CMES, an AI-driven robotics company, focusing on pricing plans for "Robot as a Service (RaaS)" and subscription-based models for AI-driven RaaS tailored for enterprises.

RaaS is gaining traction as a cost-effective automation solution, expected to witness rapid growth in sectors like logistics, delivery, construction, and healthcare.

SKT plans to collaborate with Scatter Lab to integrate an emotional AI agent into its 'A' AI service, and with MakinaRocks and FriendliAI to create synergy and establish a prominent position in the global AI market.

CEO Ryu Young-sang expressed, "With our AI partners onboard, we've outlined a roadmap for driving new growth globally. Together, we'll explore various AI cooperation opportunities and introduce our AI technologies and services to the global market."
