In order to preserve the "high performance" of the Solana network, which has seen heavy use in recent weeks, the charity Solana Foundation—which aims to improve the Solana ecosystem's adoption—has provided some advice. Although the congestion hasn't stopped Solana, app developers can use a number of methods and strategies to ensure this "continuous high performance," such as charging priority fees.

Many Solana apps still do not use priority fees, which encourage validators to schedule a transaction ahead of others, because of the characteristics of the blockchain. These costs must be added to the regular price for every transaction and are paid in micro-lamports, which are fractional amounts of SOL.

Fee prioritisation, according to the foundation, "will help address user experience issues," preventing or reducing the number of missed or delayed transactions.

Additional steps, such as limiting the resources apps utilise to boost the likelihood of transactions reaching the network, may also aid in optimising block utilisation. The foundation added that giving staked validators' transactions priority in order to offer further sybil resistance would aid in keeping the network functioning correctly.
