Anthony Scaramucci, a prominent pro-crypto financier and co-founder of SkyBridge Capital, has taken to social media to share his insights on the next cryptocurrency to be launched as an exchange-traded fund (ETF). He believes that Solana (SOL), currently the fifth largest cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of $74,257,065,079, is poised to be the next ETF.

Scaramucci's tweet advised the global cryptocurrency community to prepare for the launch of a SOL ETF, echoing a similar prediction made by Brian Kelly, founder and CEO of BKCM LLC, earlier this week. Kelly stated that Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana are likely to be "the big three of this cycle."

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved eleven Bitcoin spot ETFs in January, and spot Ethereum ETFs were unexpectedly greenlit on May 23. This development allows both retail and institutional investors to gain exposure to Ethereum without directly owning it, instead buying ETF shares based on the cryptocurrency.

However, there is a challenge associated with a potential SOL ETF. SOL is classified as an unregistered security by the SEC, unlike Bitcoin and Ethereum, which are recognized as commodities. The regulatory status of Ethereum is currently uncertain, and the SEC has sued Coinbase and Kraken for offering staking services involving SOL and ETH, among other coins marked as securities. The exception was made for XRP, following the SEC's partial loss in a case against Ripple last year.

This development may have driven BlackRock, a major issuer of spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, to file for an exchange-traded fund based on XRP earlier this year. Bloomberg crypto and ETF analyst James Seyffart expressed skepticism about demand for altcoins, specifically mentioning Litecoin and Dogecoin.

The cryptocurrency community is closely watching how this development will affect the market dynamics and whether Solana can rise to prominence with the launch of its ETF.
