Despite a largely successful sale, not all participants are pleased with the turbulent price fluctuations.

Boba Oppa (BOBAOPPA), a Solana-based memecoin launched by Taiwanese music celebrity and blockchain personality Machi Big Brother (also known as Jeffrey Huang), has taken tokenholders on a rollercoaster ride following a $40 million presale.

According to data from GeckoTerminal on April 2, the Boba Oppa memecoin started trading at a high of 0.001474 during its launch on March 30, only to plummet by 74% to a low of 0.0003854 shortly thereafter. At the time of writing, Boba Oppa has seen a partial recovery, trading at a price of $0.0007194. On March 28, investors funneled over 200,000 SOL ($182 million) into the Boba Oppa memecoin address based on a single tweet, raising over $40 million for the project. Subsequently, the token's market capitalization has surged to $73 million, but not all participants are satisfied.

"I'm never participating in a presale again," lamented one user on X, adding, "My $10K investment is now worth $129.00, WTF man." Crypto influencer Borovik.sol also joined the chorus of investor concerns, questioning the purpose of presales if everyone sells off after just five minutes.

The most illuminating perspective on the volatile trading activity, however, came from Machi Big Brother himself, who clarified that unlike typical memecoin pump-and-dump schemes, Boba Oppa operates as a "dump-and-pump" token. "We're not your ordinary memecoin. Let that sink in," Huang emphasized. Responding to inquiries about the price fluctuations of Boba Oppa, one user asked, "Can I recover the $29977 I've lost through passive income?" to which Huang humorously replied, "Only if you pray hard enough."

Inspired by the recent surge of Solana memecoins themed around canines, Huang developed the Boba Oppa token, infusing it with a backstory. According to the project's official website:

"Once upon a time, Boba Oppa, son of Machi Big Brother, embarked on a quest for generational wealth and to lose his virginity. Throughout his trials and tribulations, he created $BOBAOPPA, the memecoin that leverages the power of DeFi."

Solana memecoins have experienced a whirlwind journey, with $149.2 million raised from 33 presales within the past month alone. In response to this ongoing frenzy, Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, has issued a cautionary warning to investors, urging them to "stop doing this."
