In the wake of the recent milestone achieved with the approval of ether spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs), Geoffrey Kendrick, an analyst at Standard Chartered Bank, has offered insights into the future trajectory of crypto ETFs, suggesting that the next chapter for assets like Solana (SOL) and Ripple (XRP) may unfold around 2025.

Kendrick, who heads forex and digital assets research at Standard Chartered Bank, indicated that while the approval of ether spot ETFs implies that Ethereum is not classified as a security by the SEC, it could have broader implications for other ETH-like coins, including those previously scrutinized such as XRP in the 2023 legal case. He noted that the similarity in core technology to ETH could make it challenging for the SEC to classify them as securities, given Ethereum's established position.

Describing the recent developments as a "true watershed moment" for the crypto industry, Kendrick highlighted the bipartisan political support for crypto in the U.S., signaling a favorable regulatory environment. However, he emphasized that the focus now shifts to the timing of further regulatory changes rather than their inevitability.

While the market eagerly anticipates the expansion of crypto ETF offerings, Kendrick foresees increased dominance for bitcoin and ether, particularly in a Sharpe ratio context. He anticipates the emergence of "next in line" winners as well, poised to benefit from the evolving landscape.

Kendrick maintains bullish sentiments towards bitcoin, projecting a strong inflow for spot bitcoin ETFs and a corresponding price target of $150,000 by year-end. He underscores the attractiveness of a portfolio comprising both BTC and ETH ETFs, citing the SEC's decision on ETH as a validation for the industry.

As for ETH ETFs specifically, Kendrick expects trading to commence next month, with potential inflows ranging from $15 to $45 billion within the first 12 months. Reiterating his earlier projection, he anticipates ETH reaching $8,000 by year-end.

While the approval for 19b-4 forms for spot ETH ETFs has been granted, pending S-1 registrations for sign-off before trading can begin, Kendrick's insights shed light on the evolving landscape of crypto ETFs and the anticipated timeline for assets like SOL and XRP to enter this space.
