The Starknet Foundation announced on May 7 the launch of a new $5 million seed grant program. This initiative is designed to provide financial support and resources to emerging projects on the Starknet network, empowering developers and entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to life.

The newly unveiled Seed Grants Programme will support at least 200 promising teams with $25,000 in USD Coin each, offering the "final push" needed to help these projects successfully launch on the Starknet network. This substantial investment underscores the Starknet Foundation's commitment to nurturing a thriving and diverse blockchain ecosystem.

According to a Starknet Foundation report, the grant targets Starknet-related projects that have already developed a minimum viable product (MVP) or proof-of-concept. The application and evaluation process for the grant has been designed to be streamlined and efficient, with the aim of maximizing engagement and ensuring a swift distribution of funds. The report states that the grant will follow "a simplified application and evaluation process" and aims to provide a decision approximately two weeks after submission.

While priority will be given to teams and developers who have previously participated in the Starknet ecosystem, the Seed Grants Programme is open to all interested parties, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment for blockchain innovation.

The rise of Starknet as a leading blockchain platform has been driven by its increasing adoption among developers seeking to leverage its low fees, scalability, and developer-friendly toolset. This sentiment is further reinforced by the findings of Electric Capital's 2023 Developer Report, which revealed that the number of monthly developers utilizing Starknet rose to an impressive 730 in December 2023, marking a staggering 265% increase from the 200 developers using the platform in 2021.

In partnership with Nevermind, Starknet is offering an additional $1 million initiative to support applications and products on its network. Unlike the seed grant, this opportunity is open to teams at all stages of development, from those seeking to integrate existing products into the Starknet ecosystem to those with a rough idea or comprehensive proof of concept.

Through this collaboration, Starknet will provide grants ranging from $50,000 to $250,000 to builders who aim to "advance the Starknet ecosystem with innovative, user-facing products." Additionally, the program will offer experienced engineers and advisors to provide design advice, technical guidance, and support, facilitating partnerships, collaborations, and future funding opportunities within the Starknet community.
