The Sandbox has announced in a blog post that Steve Aoki will join the platform with 3,333 digital avatars. Each avatar will be playable in the metaverse, allowing holders to access unique functionalities and earn SAND by playing the game. Users can mint their preferred avatars starting July 25, 2022, at 2 PM UTC.

The release of Steve Aoki’s avatars will occur in three waves:

- **July 25, 2022, 2 PM UTC:** Users whitelisted by Steve Aoki can mint two avatars per wallet for 48 hours.
- **July 26, 2022, 2 PM UTC:** Users whitelisted by both The Sandbox and Steve Aoki can mint two avatars per wallet for 24 hours.
- **July 27, 2022, 2 PM UTC:** Public release where all users can mint up to four avatars per wallet.

The 3,333 avatars will be randomly generated across six rarity tiers:

- Gold Rarity – 2%
- Diamond Rarity – 9%
- Hybrid Rarity – 14%
- Rainbow Rarity – 18%
- Android Rarity – 22%
- Human Rarity – 35%

Additionally, there will be several unique 1/1 rare avatars. The minting cost for one avatar is set at 100 SAND. These avatars will be playable in the metaverse, with the earliest usage expected in Alpha Season 3. Users can mint avatars on The Sandbox's official minting webpage, and the avatars will be revealed on OpenSea 48 hours after minting.

Users can manage their avatars through the Avatar Manager on The Sandbox dashboard. If an avatar isn’t revealed after 48 hours, users can refresh the metadata on OpenSea. Even after the primary sale, avatars can be traded on the secondary marketplace, OpenSea.

To get whitelisted for early access, users must hold one of the following NFTs 24 hours before minting starts:

- Steve Aoki NFTs
- The Doggies Avatar
- The Sandbox LAND
- Winning a Twitter contest
- People of Crypto Avatar

Users must create an account on The Sandbox, ensure their wallet is linked, and have sufficient SAND and ETH for minting and gas fees.
